Battalion Commander: c/LTC Gizelle Stansbury
Gizelle Stansbury joined the Redhawk Battalion in 2022. During that time she was promoted to Private First Class and earned the Cadet of the Month Award due to her work ethic. That year she joined the drill team to be more involved with the battalion. In her second and third semester, she served as the S-1 and was promoted to First Lieutenant. Because of her hard work and dedication she was the first person in the Redhawk Battalion to earn the Cadet of the Semester Award. Additionally, she earned the Best Staff Award and Cadet of the Year Award. During that time she's learned many valuable leadership skills that made her into the leader she is today, and she wished to help other cadets enhance their skills as well.
Due to Stansbury’s diligence and zeal for the battalion, she is currently serving as the Battalion Commander and Unarmed Squad Commander for the 23-24 school year. Her vision for this year is self growth and development within the entire battalion. She will create opportunities to enhance cadets leadership skills and assist them in expanding their comfort zone. All while leading by example and influencing cadets by emphasizing on the Redhawk Battalion’s core principles. |
Duties & Responsibilities:
The Battalion Commander is responsible for everything the battalion succeeds and fails to do. Their job is to plan every event the battalion has and keep an eye out for opportunities for the battalion. They control the staff through the BXO and the companies through the commanders. They have meetings with their BXO and CSM to ensure all of their needs are fulfilled. They make sure everyone in staff, including the XO and CSM fully understand their responsibilities for their position. They take charge and command at any formation. The Battalion Commander leads by example. They have to be proficient in their military bearing, drill and ceremony, fitness, and academics.
